Reflecting on Fall Ball

As "Fall Ball" finally ended one week ago, I couldn't help but feel a mix of emotions throughout this previous week. The fall season is always an exciting time for us Mercyhurst lacrosse players. It's a time to refine our skills, develop as a team, and set our sights on the upcoming spring season. This past week has been relaxing and transformative, and I'm eager to share my reflection on the journey we experienced this fall.

The Grind Never Stops

Fall Ball is undoubtedly one of the most intense periods of our season. As we transition from summer workouts to practice, the physical demands are a big adjustment. Developing a routine to allow one to succeed in the classroom and on the lacrosse field is very important. Early morning workouts, intense practices, and conditioning drills are what will enable us to develop both physical and mental strength. These are times when we come together as a team and use the bond we have grown to push one another to be the best form of themselves.

Team Building and Camaraderie

One of the most critical aspects of our fall season is the incredible camaraderie that develops within the team. This fall, we experienced a significant adjustment with the hiring of our new coach, Trey Keeley. This was a time that we needed to come together as a team and trust one another, as well as trust Coach Keeley. Coach Keeley has done an exceptional job of developing our trust in his coaching philosophies and the character he has. He has brought a lot of strength within the team by creating the idea that we aren't just a team, but we are a family. The relationships we have developed have strengthened our trust, communication, and shared commitment to our goals of winning a conference championship and making it back to the National Championships this spring.

Incorporating New Talent

Each year, we welcome new talent to our team, and Fall Ball is when we witness their impact. Freshmen, transfers, and even returning players who have taken the offseason as a time to elevate their game bring a new level of competition and diversity to our roster. Our freshmen and transfers made a significant impact on the team this fall. They came in with a great mindset and embraced the Mercyhurst Lacrosse culture very well. They all can make a lasting impact on our team this year, and I can't wait to see what they bring to the field this spring.

Gratitude and Excitement

Reflecting on the fall ball season, I have developed a sense of gratitude. We are incredibly fortunate to wear the Mercyhurst lacrosse jersey and be part of a special tradition. The support from our coaches, professors, and the Mercyhurst community is just a few of the many reasons to be thankful.

Fall Ball is over, but the journey is far from over. Our eyes are set on the upcoming season in the spring, and we are eager to put everything we've learned and developed over this period into action. We know as a team that we have the skills, trust, and determination to make this spring season one to remember.

Mercyhurst Men's Lacrosse Finish's Off Fall Ball

As the autumn leaves fell from the trees and raindrops slowly hit the ground, we embarked on our journey to Nazareth University for a scrimmage against a historical program out of Pittsford, New York. For us, it was more than just a game; it marked the end of fall ball, the culmination of months of hard work, and a chance for us to put all of the pieces together from this fall.  The trip to  Nazareth University was a refreshing change of pace from our usual routine this fall. Our bus was filled with anticipation, preparation, and excitement. The journey was not just about covering miles but an opportunity to bond as a team as the wheels turned to Pittsford, New York. Road trips are an excellent time for us as a team to connect through sharing stories, exchanging jokes, and creating memories that will last forever for us all.  As we arrived at Nazareth University, we were greeted with a beautiful campus made out of old brick. The Nazareth Men's Lacrosse team showed us grea...

Mercyhurst Lacrosse Experiencing Change This Fall

As the calendar pages turn, leaves change colors, and the air turns crisp in Erie, PA, the fall weather is upon us here at  Mercyhurst University . "Fall Ball" is upon the Mercyhurst Lacrosse team as we prepare for our upcoming season in the spring and reflect on the experiences we developed last season. Last season, we had a very successful season, making it to every collegiate athlete's dream...The National Championship. Unfortunately, after our appearance in the National Championship, our team was saddened by the news that our head and assistant coaches had taken new coaching opportunities.  As the fall came around, we were excited to hear that the school had hired  Trey Keeley  as our new head coach. Coach Keeley has a solid lacrosse background, allowing for the development of our program and individuals to be in good hands. My teammates and I were very excited about hiring Coach Keeley because it opened up many new opportunities for us on and off the field. The ...
