Mercyhurst Men's Lacrosse Gets Prepared for the Spring Season

As the leaves and temperatures continue to fall, a sense of anticipation is developed among the lacrosse team. Fall ball is officially over, leaving us with a taste of the challenges and triumphs that await in the spring. Now, as we transition from the crisp air of fall practices to the indoor intensity of winter training and conditioning, the countdown to the spring season begins!

The conclusion of the fall ball brought a quick break, allowing us to catch our breath and reflect on all of the progress we have made and the mistakes we have made. This offseason is crucial, and it is time to develop our identity for the spring season. Training sessions are a beast of their own. Our weekly schedule for training and conditioning consists of team workouts on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 5:00-6:00 PM, and then we have conditioning and "fundey's" on Wednesday from 4:00-6:00 PM. The frigid air in Erie pierces our lungs, adding an extra layer of challenge to the already demanding physical exertion. It is essential that, as a team, we keep pushing each other and focus on the importance of being in shape as the spring season is about to be upon us.

This time of the year is significant for my teammates and me to show the importance of a "student" in student-athletes. We can excel in the classroom Through all the help from our professors and coaches. The Center of Academic Engagement building is my favorite building on campus, where I get all my work done. Finding an empty classroom where I can have peace and quiet allows me to stay focused and keep my work done for the week.

Amidst the sweat and sore muscles, the camaraderie among us deepens. We share and cherish all of the moments we have together while showing a sense of celebration, whether shaving seconds off a sprint or having a new max on an exercise in the weight room.

In addition to the physical demands, the mental aspect of the game becomes part of the center stage. Film has become a very crucial part of my daily routine. Every day, I watch 30 minutes of the film, reflecting on how I played in our scrimmages this previous fall while creating an understanding of defense and offense.

As a player, the anticipation of the spring season is both thrilling and nerve-wracking. The memories of past victories and defeats linger, fueling the desire to surpass the feeling of losing in the National Championship last year. The realization that every pass, every sprint, and every decision my teammates and I make right now will contribute to our success in the spring.

So, as we prepare to navigate the challenges that we may face before the start of the spring, we understand that as a team, all of our efforts bring us one step closer to the spring season and our goal of winning a National Championship.

Mercyhurst Men's Lacrosse Finish's Off Fall Ball

As the autumn leaves fell from the trees and raindrops slowly hit the ground, we embarked on our journey to Nazareth University for a scrimmage against a historical program out of Pittsford, New York. For us, it was more than just a game; it marked the end of fall ball, the culmination of months of hard work, and a chance for us to put all of the pieces together from this fall.  The trip to  Nazareth University was a refreshing change of pace from our usual routine this fall. Our bus was filled with anticipation, preparation, and excitement. The journey was not just about covering miles but an opportunity to bond as a team as the wheels turned to Pittsford, New York. Road trips are an excellent time for us as a team to connect through sharing stories, exchanging jokes, and creating memories that will last forever for us all.  As we arrived at Nazareth University, we were greeted with a beautiful campus made out of old brick. The Nazareth Men's Lacrosse team showed us grea...

Mercyhurst Lacrosse Experiencing Change This Fall

As the calendar pages turn, leaves change colors, and the air turns crisp in Erie, PA, the fall weather is upon us here at  Mercyhurst University . "Fall Ball" is upon the Mercyhurst Lacrosse team as we prepare for our upcoming season in the spring and reflect on the experiences we developed last season. Last season, we had a very successful season, making it to every collegiate athlete's dream...The National Championship. Unfortunately, after our appearance in the National Championship, our team was saddened by the news that our head and assistant coaches had taken new coaching opportunities.  As the fall came around, we were excited to hear that the school had hired  Trey Keeley  as our new head coach. Coach Keeley has a solid lacrosse background, allowing for the development of our program and individuals to be in good hands. My teammates and I were very excited about hiring Coach Keeley because it opened up many new opportunities for us on and off the field. The ...
