What It's Like the Day Before a Scrimmage

It is what I call Game Day Eve! As a student-athlete, the day before our scrimmage against Nazareth University is a mixture of relaxation, anticipation, and preparation. Join me as I walk you through what my day consisted of today.

My day kicks off with a morning workout. This is an excellent way for me to get the blood flowing throughout my body and start targeting specific muscles I need to loosen up to be prepared for tomorrow. It is also a great time to sweat and allow myself to feel productive for the day.

After I finish my workout, I head to the Grotto to fuel myself with breakfast. I had an omelet and peanut butter bagel as my post-workout/breakfast meal. Proper nutrition and hydration allow me to fuel my body and feel prepared for tomorrow.

After I have breakfast, I head over to the locker room at 11:30 to get ready for our walkthrough. The day before scrimmages/games, we, as a team, go through our game plan and answer any questions or concerns. The walkthrough ends around 12:45, and I head back to my apartment for the day.

I now have a lot of free time where I finish my homework that is due for this upcoming week and hang out with my roommates watching college football. As I get ready to head to bed, I watch a little bit of film and go over our scout to make sure I am prepared for tomorrow.

Mercyhurst Men's Lacrosse Finish's Off Fall Ball

As the autumn leaves fell from the trees and raindrops slowly hit the ground, we embarked on our journey to Nazareth University for a scrimmage against a historical program out of Pittsford, New York. For us, it was more than just a game; it marked the end of fall ball, the culmination of months of hard work, and a chance for us to put all of the pieces together from this fall.  The trip to  Nazareth University was a refreshing change of pace from our usual routine this fall. Our bus was filled with anticipation, preparation, and excitement. The journey was not just about covering miles but an opportunity to bond as a team as the wheels turned to Pittsford, New York. Road trips are an excellent time for us as a team to connect through sharing stories, exchanging jokes, and creating memories that will last forever for us all.  As we arrived at Nazareth University, we were greeted with a beautiful campus made out of old brick. The Nazareth Men's Lacrosse team showed us grea...

Mercyhurst Lacrosse Experiencing Change This Fall

As the calendar pages turn, leaves change colors, and the air turns crisp in Erie, PA, the fall weather is upon us here at  Mercyhurst University . "Fall Ball" is upon the Mercyhurst Lacrosse team as we prepare for our upcoming season in the spring and reflect on the experiences we developed last season. Last season, we had a very successful season, making it to every collegiate athlete's dream...The National Championship. Unfortunately, after our appearance in the National Championship, our team was saddened by the news that our head and assistant coaches had taken new coaching opportunities.  As the fall came around, we were excited to hear that the school had hired  Trey Keeley  as our new head coach. Coach Keeley has a solid lacrosse background, allowing for the development of our program and individuals to be in good hands. My teammates and I were very excited about hiring Coach Keeley because it opened up many new opportunities for us on and off the field. The ...
